Position: Dietitian Clinical Nutrition
Location: New York NY 10065
Duration: 6 Months (Potential to Extend)
Department: Clinical Nutrition
Shift: 9:00 AM 5:00 PM (includes 60-minute break)
Additional Shift Needs: Alternating 23 days per week; rotating weekends; occasional 11 AM7 PM coverage as needed.
Job Summary
The Dietitian will provide clinical nutrition services within an acute care inpatient setting. This role involves completing comprehensive nutrition assessments developing individualized interventions and supporting patients optimal nutritional status in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team. The Dietitian must demonstrate strong knowledge of medical nutrition therapy and adhere to professional standards and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments for patients in an acute care setting.
Develop and implement individualized nutrition care plans based on clinical findings and patient needs.
Provide medical nutrition therapy and evidence-based nutrition recommendations.
Monitor patient progress adjust interventions as needed and document all care according to established policies.
Communicate effectively with physicians nurses and interdisciplinary staff regarding patient care and nutrition recommendations.
Provide patient and family education to support dietary compliance and health outcomes.
Participate in weekend and rotating coverage schedules as assigned.
Maintain compliance with all clinical regulatory and professional standards.
Perform additional duties as assigned based on department needs.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Dietetics or related field.
Completion of an ACEND-accredited program in dietetics.
Registered Dietitian (RD) credential through the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
New York State Certification as a Certified Dietitian Nutritionist (CDN).
Demonstrated knowledge of medical nutrition therapy (MNT).
Experience working in an acute care inpatient setting.
Preferred Qualifications
Schedule Overview
Alternating 2 and 3 days per week.
Rotating weekend coverage.
Core shift: 9 AM5 PM (with 60-minute break).
PRN shift coverage: 11 AM7 PM as needed.
