Portland has been working to address climate change for nearly 30 years and was the first city in the United States to draft a carbon reduction strategy. Today BPSs Climate Policy team develops policies runs programs and conducts research and analysis that aim to rapidly decarbonize Portland while ensuring that our community members most impacted by the climate crisis have power in the policy process. The Citys priorities for achieving decarbonization and resilience are outlined in Portlands 2022-2025 Climate Emergency Workplan which guides the work of the Climate Policy and Program team. The Portland Bureau of Planning and Sustainability develops creative and practical solutions that enhance Portlands livability preserve distinctive places and plan for a resilient future. Job Appointment: Full-time Limited Duration. Persons appointed to limited term positions will be designated as limited duration employees whose appointment shall not exceed two (2) years except for the extension of grants or funding from outside sources.
Work Schedule:Monday Friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. An alternate schedule may be available.

Position Summary:
The City of Portlands Bureau of Planning and Sustainability (BPS) is seeking to fill a limited-term Clean Industry Coordinator position (Coordinator III) within the Climate Policy program area. The Clean Industry Coordinator is responsible for supporting the implementation of the Clean Industry Community Program. This new $20 million initiative within BPS is funded by the Portland Clean Energy Community Benefits Fund (PCEF). The Clean Industry Community Program will award grants to projects that reduce industrial emissions air pollution and waste while delivering meaningful benefits to communities adjacent to industrial districts and creating pathways for workforce and contractor development. The Clean Industry Coordinator will work with closely with partners from business government community-based organizations higher education and workforce development to implement the program.
