Organisational Profile

GEGAC is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation based in Bairnsdale Victoria. Consisting of about 200 staff GEGAC is a Not-for-Profit organisation that delivers holistic services in the areas of Primary Health Social Services Elders & Disability and Early Childhood Education.

GEGAC advocates for the self-determination of the Aboriginal community by prioritising services that enhance social emotional and spiritual wellbeing with culture at the heart of everything we do.

Position Purpose

Working within the Business Support Services Division and reporting to the Quality and Compliance Manager the Quality Safety and Risk Officer plays a key role in supporting the organisations commitment to safety quality and accountability. The position contributes to promoting a safe and high-quality environment assessing and mitigating organisational and operational risk and embedding a culture of continuous improvement across all areas of service delivery.

The role also supports the development implementation and review of policies and procedures that strengthen organisational governance and ensure alignment with regulatory accreditation and cultural standards.

A central focus of this position is embedding Aboriginal cultural values and principles within the organisations Quality Governance Framework and systems ensuring that our culture and community are honoured while driving excellence in quality safety and risk management.

Key Selection Criteria

Demonstrates strong capability in policy development risk management compliance and accreditation processes with proven experience in evaluating systems and processes to enhance organisational accountability strengthen governance frameworks and support effective risk mitigation.

Proficient in incident investigation methodologies (e.g. ICAM Root Cause Analysis).

Demonstrated ability to review and review Policies and procedures.

Proven experience in WHS system development implementation and auditing.

Excellent communication skills and stakeholder engagement ability at all levels.

A sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office use of IT / other software office machinery and administrative processes.

Expertise or working knowledge in risk analysis trend monitoring and regulatory reporting.

Good knowledge of Victorian WHS legislation ISO standards and emergency planning.

Demonstrated understanding of cultural safety principles and their application in workplace health and safety.

Qualifications and Registrations Requirement (Essential or Desirable).

Valid drivers licence ESSENTIAL

Strong background in Quality and Risk Management ESSENTIAL

A satisfactory Working with Children Check and Fit2Work Police Check ESSENTIAL

A person of Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander background DESIRABLE

Proof of COVID-19 vaccinated to align with GEGAC requirements ESSENTIAL

Diploma-level qualification (or equivalent experience) in Quality Risk and/or Safety or related fields such as organisational governance integrity management and evidence-based analysis Audit and compliance management ESSENTIAL
