Job Summary

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for creating maintaining and auditing Bills of Materials (BOMs) to ensure accuracy consistency and compliance with company standards and industry regulations. This role plays a critical part in supporting efficient production cost control and product lifecycle management within a packaging manufacturing environment. This position reports directly into Engineering Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain standardized BOMs for packaging products and components.
  • Audit BOMs regularly to ensure alignment with engineering specifications production requirements and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering production procurement and quality assurance to ensure BOM accuracy and completeness.
  • Manage Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and ensure timely updates to BOMs in response to design or process changes.
  • Support New Product Introductions (NPIs) by creating initial BOMs and updating them throughout the development cycle.
  • Analyze BOM data to identify cost-saving opportunities material efficiencies and process improvements.
  • Ensure BOMs are properly integrated and maintained within our ERP system (Syteline).
  • Provide training and guidance on BOM standards and best practices to internal stakeholders.
  • Troubleshoot BOM-related issues and implement corrective actions to maintain data integrity.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering Manufacturing Supply Chain or a related field.
  • 3 years of experience in BOM management or engineering support preferably in a packaging or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong proficiency with ERP systems (e.g. Syteline SAP Oracle NetSuite Arena).
  • Excellent attention to detail and data analysis skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience with packaging materials and manufacturing processes (e.g. corrugated flexible films rigid containers) is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards relevant to packaging (e.g. UL FDA ISO) is a plus.
