JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/ Objective
East Side House (ESH) is a community resource in the Bronx and Northern Manhattan. We believe education is the key that enables all people to create economic and civic opportunities for themselves their families and their community. ESHs Adult & Workforce Programs aligns with our mission by providing high quality programs and services within community centers and school partnerships.
Reporting to the Director of PSP the Employment Coordinator is responsible for linking participants to work readiness occupational training subsidized internships and unsubsidized employment. The Employment Coordinator will develop and cultivate partnerships with hospitals clinics and long-term care facilities and identify healthcare employers aligned with participant goals. This positions direct reports include interns and a Retention Specialist and interacts with the Jobs Plus program. With a focus on workforce development the Employment Coordinator provides under- and unemployed adults 18 who are from communities most impacted by poverty systemic inequity and community violence
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Director of PSP the Employment Coordinator will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

Supervise and coordinate job placement and retention services meant to increase employability livable wages and employment retention amongst participants
Develop strategy for engaging employers for the purpose of filling open job vacancies increasing employer partnerships and retaining existing partnerships; Evaluate and assess efficiency and effectiveness of employer partnerships.
Link participants to paid work-readiness 300-hour occupational courses and subsidized internships
Offer both immediate and longer-term employment opportunities to participants and develop a comprehensive and robust employer engagement strategy to establish maintain and deepen employer relationships over time to ensure program services meet employer needs and to prepare clients for high-wage jobs.
Secure paid internships arrange hiring events track 90-day retention and meet placement benchmarks.
Ensure employer engagement strategies would be demand-driven based upon a working knowledge of labor market trends in New York City that are relevant to participants using quarterly prospecting plans which indicate target industries and employers for placing participants during the upcoming fiscal years and the placement volume expected.
Oversee department staff in the areas of coaching participants on a variety of post-employment work-related topics such as adjusting to work expectations taking demands from a supervisor identifying travel alternatives securing back-up childcare in the event of a provider emergency and asking for a raise.
Measure training effects on job placement/advancement and use tracking tools to accurately report on outcomes.
Represent program at networking events and functions.
Assist with facilitating inter-agency and inter-program communication collaborating with other ESH programs.
Use diversified marketing strategies to reach a wide range of participants taking into consideration the varying demographics needs work experience skills education levels and career interests of participants
Use software such as Salesforce to case note and regularly track members progress.

Qualifications
To perform this position successfully the Assistant Director must be able to fulfill all the elements of the job description to the highest standard and be able to work well with colleagues in a high energy and collaborative work environment. Additional qualifications include:
Required Education and Experience
Bachelors degree preferred with at least three years of experience business development sales human resources job development recruitment or marketing.
Demonstrated supervisory experience and leadership skills with a focus on execution and results with ability to mentor staff to achieve higher levels of performance
Experience with recruitment retention attendance and placement
Experience working with community served by East Side House Settlement.
Strong computer skills and technological experience including Microsoft Office (Word Teams etc.) Google Suite (Google Classroom Docs and Sheets) and similar programs
Exhibits good judgment and analytical skills required to anticipate organizational advancement
Strong written and verbal communication skills: a persuasive passionate and effective communicator with excellent public speaking skills and ability to communicate and interact comfortably with a range of stakeholders (staff partners funders); a compelling spokesperson on behalf of the organization mission and vision
Exhibits high integrity and demonstrates the ability to be valued and respected by community professionals civic leaders corporations foundations and government officials
Possesses strong organizational leadership and project management skills able to oversee and handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
to access to navigate department changes based upon emerging industries and community needs
Maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders including prospective employers strategic partners organization leadership funders community leaders

Employees must be clear to work at ESH. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background checks and/or screenings.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position is responsible for supervising and managing the performance of all designated employees assigned to the position within the department.
Physical Demands
This role may involve occasional lifting or moving of items up to 50 pounds and routine use of standard office equipment. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Expected Work Schedule
The work schedule expected for this position is: Monday through Friday and occasional weekends and holidays. Days and hours of work will range within and to cover the shift of operations from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Flexible work schedule is required for program days/hours as aligned to the needs of the program/service. The schedule may be adjusted based on ESHs operational needs with notice provided.
