Des Moines Valley Health and Human Services (DVHHS) currently has a full time opening for an Eligibility Worker. Responsibilities include determining eligibility of clients for income maintenance programs according to federal state and county standards; establishes initial and on-going eligibility for multiple income maintenance programs; supports program participants in achieving the highest degree of independence and in addressing barriers to self-sufficiency; provides education enrollment and assistance to managed health care enrollees; makes appropriate referrals to other community resources; and performs related work as assigned.

Minimum qualifications of education and experience for this position: The job requires three years of clerical experience and/or experience working with the public or some combination of the two totaling three years; or two years of clerical experience in a human service agency; or two years of study at an accredited two or four-year college with emphasis in the behavioral sciences business or closely related subjects.

This position is classified in Grade 10 of the DVHHS Compensation Plan with an anticipated 2026 pay range of $25.03 - $32.53 per hour.

This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week with a full benefit package which includes Public Employee Retirement pension.

In order to ensure the safety of citizens employees and property DVHHS has adopted a drug and alcohol testing policy which applies to all candidates being considered for employment with DVHHS. A Drug and Alcohol test must be completed within 24 hours of all contingent verbal offers of employment unless alternate scheduling arrangements are approved by Human Resources office.
