Core Responsibilities
- Sourcing and Procurement: Identify research and evaluate potential suppliers and vendors (local and international) for raw materials equipment spare parts and services required for power plant operations or SIDs functions.
- Vendor Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors. This includes assessing supplier performance conducting audits and resolving issues related to quality delivery or discrepancies.
- Negotiation and Contracts: Compare and evaluate offers negotiate contract terms pricing and service level agreements (SLAs) to secure the most favorable deals and achieve cost savings.
- Purchase Order (PO) Management: Prepare issue and manage purchase orders accurately. Track orders expedite urgent requirements and ensure timely delivery to avoid operational delays.
- Quality Assurance and Compliance: Ensure all purchased goods and services meet the required technical specifications quality standards and relevant regulatory requirements (e.g. industry standards like ISO 9001).
- Inventory and Logistics Coordination: Monitor stock levels collaborate with warehouse and planning teams to forecast demand and manage the logistics of shipments including customs and delivery to the final location.
- Cost Analysis and Reporting: Conduct cost analyses manage budgets track expenditures and prepare reports on purchases cost savings and supplier performance for management review.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with finance engineering operations and maintenance teams to understand their procurement needs and align purchasing strategies with overall business objectives.
Industry-Specific Duties (SID/Power Plant)
- Sourcing and managing suppliers forheavy machinery specialized power generation equipment fuel and MRO (maintenance repair and operations) supplies.
- Familiarity with specific purchase terms and conditions applicable to the energy sector (e.g. INCOTERMS).
- Managing procurement risks related to supply chain disruptions geopolitical changes or material scarcity affecting plant operations.
- Coordinating with plant engineers and maintenance teams for equipment repairs scheduled maintenance and capital purchases.
Key Skills and Qualifications
- Education: A Bachelors degree in business supply chain management logistics or a relevant engineering field is often preferred.
- Experience: Prior experience in a purchasing or procurement role ideally within an industrial manufacturing or power generation environment is beneficial.
- Skills:
- Strong negotiation analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in procurement software and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (e.g. SAP Oracle).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with both internal teams and external vendors.
