Job Description:

Primary Purpose

The Recruitment and Outreach Specialist plays a key role in launching promoting and building the reputation of the School of Accounting and Finances new professional pathway programs. The position is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive outreach and communications strategy building relationships with stakeholders and creating compelling marketing content to attract prospective students at post-secondary institutions and the professional marketplace.

Key Accountabilities

Recruitment and Outreach

Designs and executes recruitment campaigns targeting prospective students.

Develops and implements processes for outreach activities including event research planning pre- and post-event meetings and regular team debriefs to enable continuous improvement.

Creatively pursue and recommend tactics to increase reach and impact on target audiences.

Represents the School of Accounting and Finance at recruitment events conferences and career fairs ensuring a strong consistent and positive brand presence.

Builds and maintains relationships with alumni industry partners and professional associations to support recruitment efforts.

Leads the planning and oversees the implementation of outreach strategies to increase support of the programs visibility nationally and internationally.

Collaborate with other Waterloo departments (e.g. Office of Advancement Alumni Relations Faculties Grad Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs etc.) to create joint initiatives and maximize program visibility.

Stakeholder Engagement

Liaises with faculty staff and external partners to gather input and promote program visibility.

Responds to inquiries from prospective students regarding program details and application processes.

Supports the development of partnerships with professional associations firms and industry partners to enhance program reach and relevance.

Marketing and Communications Strategy

Develops and implements a comprehensive communications strategy to support and promote the professional pathway programs.

Coordinates messaging across digital print and in-person channels to ensure consistency and alignment with program goals.

Collaborates with internal stakeholders to align marketing efforts with institutional branding and strategic priorities.

Monitors trends in professional education marketing and adjusts strategies to remain competitive and innovative.

Drafts and updates promotional materials including brochures web content social media posts and presentations.

Coordinates with designers photographers videographers and web developers to produce high-quality assets.

Monitors and revises content based on feedback analytics and evolving program needs.

Plans organizes and manages event logistics including venue booking catering travel audiovisual support materials production set-up and tear-down.

Reporting and Evaluation

Tracks and analyzes recruitment and marketing metrics to assess campaign effectiveness.

Prepares reports and presentations for leadership on outreach outcomes and recommendations.

Gathers and synthesizes feedback from students partners and event participants to refine future outreach efforts.

Monitors maintains and improves social media and website analytics dashboards to inform strategy and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Conducts environmental scans and competitive analyses to inform improvements and strategy.

Required Qualifications

Education

Bachelors degree in marketing communications business or a related field.

Experience

Minimum of 5 years of experience in professional outreach stakeholder engagement or recruitment preferably in higher education.

Experience designing and executing recruitment campaigns and outreach events (virtual and in-person) including logistics planning vendor coordination and on-site execution.

Demonstrated success in building and maintaining external partnerships with industry and professional associations.

Experience developing marketing content across multiple channels (web social media print video).

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Strong knowledge of marketing recruitment and stakeholder engagement strategies.

Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create persuasive content for diverse audiences.

Relationship-building skills and professional presence to represent the School in external engagements.

Proficiency with digital marketing tools (e.g. Hootsuite Google Analytics CRM systems) and social media platforms.

Ability to manage complex projects prioritize multiple deadlines and adapt to changing program needs.

Strong analytical skills for interpreting data identifying trends and recommending strategy adjustments.

Creative problem-solving abilities to identify new outreach opportunities and enhance program visibility.

Comfort with public speaking and presenting to groups both virtually and in-person.

Ability to work independently exercise sound judgment and maintain professionalism under pressure.
