Position Summary:

The Custodial Maintenance position at Dakota Wesleyan University is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of campus buildings and grounds. This includes performing a variety of cleaning tasks ensuring that facilities meet sanitation standards and addressing maintenance issues as needed. The ideal candidate for this role is detail-oriented organized and dedicated to providing a safe and welcoming environment for students faculty and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

• Clean and sanitize restrooms common areas classrooms and office spaces on a daily basis
• Dust furniture sweep and mop floors vacuum carpets and empty trash receptacles
• Perform deep cleaning tasks as needed such as shampooing carpets or waxing floors
• Ensure that cleaning supplies and equipment are properly maintained and stored
• Report any maintenance issues or safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor
• Assist with setting up and breaking down for events and activities on campus
• Work collaboratively with other custodial staff to prioritize tasks and ensure that all areas are cleaned thoroughly
• Follow all safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries
• Provide excellent customer service to students faculty staff and visitors

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Prior experience in custodial or maintenance work is preferred
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds bend stoop and reach overhead
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently
• Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions
• Some events require evenings or weekend hours
• Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques and safety procedures
• Valid drivers license and reliable transportation
