GENERAL DESCRIPTION:


This Standards Supervisor position is responsible for the supervision of the 4-member Standards Team and for the review of the state standards for all 10 content areas. This position also works with the Assessment Team and others with work related to content standards. The successful candidate will create and manage timelines schedules and facilitate statewide committee meetings and provide regular communication and support for districts including professional development. Candidates should also have successful leadership experience in leading teams and major initiatives/projects. This position requires strong written and verbal communication skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed in the job level.


  • Develops and implements state-level activities for educational programs
  • Supervise and direct the Standards Team
  • Monitors programs for compliance with regulations and provides feedback to districts or sub-grantees
  • Identifies potential problems and devises solutions
  • Disseminates professional trends by presenting information at meetings workshops and/or conferences
  • Develops strategic planning for cross-agency collaboration and agreements to meet agency objectives and to implement new programs
  • Plans and conducts workshops and trainings on state and/or federal programs
  • Develops program budget approves grants and funding and monitors appropriateness of expenses to meet project goals
  • Determines goals in professional development to ensure all job functions can be met
  • Oversees completion of state and federal reporting requirements
  • Authority to ensure compliance
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications


PREFERENCES:


Preference may be given to individuals with experience as a classroom teacher administrator or other education-related employment.


KNOWLEDGE:


  • Knowledge of state and federal laws especially as they relate to educational accountability
  • Knowledge in process and project management
  • Knowledge in strategic planning and performance measures
  • Knowledge of policy implications for program evaluation and research findings
  • Knowledge of employee supervision and interpersonal dynamics
  • Knowledge of fiscal planning


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
Bachelors Degree (typically in Education)
Experience:
1-3 years of progressive work experience (typically in Education or Instruction) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Education Program Consultant.
OR
Education & ExperienceSubstitution:
4-7 years of progressive work experience (typically in Education or Instruction) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Education Program Consultant.

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:


  • Typically the employee may sit comfortably toperformthework; however there maybesomewalkingstanding bendingcarryinglightitems driving an automobile etc.
  • Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.

  • FLSA: Exempt
  • Travel is estimated at 20%
  • Applicants may be asked to provide transcripts of any relevant coursework at the time of the interview or hire.
