Job Summary

Key Responsibilities

  • Refine enhance and expand an existing agentic LLM framework to improve quality speed and user experience.
  • Train tune and optimize models to elevate accuracy reliability and performance in production environments.
  • Improve interface workflow and user interaction patterns to support adoption and seamless usability.
  • Work closely with business users engineering teams and product stakeholders to understand friction points and deliver improved user experiences.
  • Design and sustain advanced AI applications using LLMs agentic frameworks and generative AI tools.
  • Conduct hands-on R&D on emerging technologies including next-gen LLMs agentic systems blockchain and quantum concepts.
  • Ensure all development follows Duke Energys established AI governance and policy standards.
  • Provide technical guidance mentorship and support to junior engineers and partner teams.
  • Support deployment processes integration steps and continuous improvement cycles.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Systems or related field OR 8 years equivalent industry experience.
  • 2 3 years direct hands-on experience implementing Generative AI/LLM systems.
  • 4 5 years software engineering experience with strong backend/API or full-stack exposure.
  • Proven experience tuning refining or enhancing AI/LLM-driven systems in production.
  • Understanding of agentic architectures and the components required to build them.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong background in AI/ML engineering prompt engineering fine-tuning and model evaluation.
  • Experience improving UX/UI flows for AI-powered applications; product-minded engineering skillset.
  • Familiarity with DevOps/CI-CD pipelines and deployment best practices.
  • Knowledge of NLP model orchestration and multi-agent workflows.
  • Proficiency in Python React Angular and cloud technologies (AWS preferred).
  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with business users and drive adoption.
  • Strong research appetite to evaluate and integrate emerging AI products and LLM technologies.

Compensation & Details

  • Rate: $105/hr W2
  • Type: 12-month contract
  • Location: Onsite/Hybrid Charlotte NC (local candidates prioritized)
  • Work Authorization: USC / GC / H1B acceptable
