What you will be doing
NSCCs vision is to transform Nova Scotia one learner at a time. Implicit in this vision is a learning experience that maximizes the unique potential of every learner. The CTL Advisor Culturally Responsive Teaching plays a critical role in nurturing this experience by advancing culturally responsive practices in teaching and learning college wide. Working in close collaboration with Academic Equity and Quality HREI and Student Affairs the CTL Advisor functions at both strategic and operational level and provides leadership in culturally responsive teaching to the CTL School teams and the College teaching community more broadly.
The CTL Advisor Culturally Responsive Teaching:
- Works closely with other CTL team members and key partners to play a lead role in helping the College articulate strengthen and support a commitment to culturally responsive practice in the context of teaching and learning.
- Collaboratively advances projects initiatives policy development and planning to support the Colleges commitment to culturally responsive and decolonized approaches in the delivery of Academic programming.
- Provides expert advice to the Director CTL and other Academic leaders about necessary projects and initiatives to advance culturally responsive teaching within the work of the CTL and across Academic.
- Collaborates with all members of the CTL to advance culturally responsive approaches in services supports programming and professional development provided within the Centre.
- Provides guidance to NSCC teams about how culturally responsive teaching can foster greater equity and belonging in teaching and learning experiences.

Qualifications
Qualifications and Occupational Experience:
- The minimum educational qualification for this position is a Bachelors Degree with a focus on education psychology educational psychology social work or other related field.
- You have successful completion of recognized formal advanced educational program(s) inclusive of courses specific to culturally responsive teaching.
- Or demonstrated self-directed learning and professional development and/or occupational experience resulting in expertise in culturally responsive teaching.
- Or successful completion of professional development certificates/courses in culturally responsive teaching.
- You have a minimum of 5 years of recent and related occupational experience in applying teaching and learning principles related to culturally responsive practices in a post-secondary setting.
- You have direct experience leading teams or initiatives to support the implementation of culturally responsive teaching practices.
- Strong demonstrated experience championing equity diversity inclusion and accessibility.
- Strong demonstrated facilitation and presentation skills
- Experience conducting analyzing and disseminating research in education
- Successful experience in managing strategic projects
- Proficiency with technology in the delivery of educational materials and concepts
- You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite E-mail Video Conferencing and Learning Management Systems
- You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology to create an exceptional student experience
- You have experience in training/facilitation preparation delivery and evaluation

- Proven leadership skills with the ability to engage inspire motivate and to provide coaching to develop others in the achievement of excellence.
