SALARY RANGE (HOURLY): $15.60 $18.39BASED ON EXPERIENCE

GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

The Online Learning Facilitator will serve as a student advocate to provide direction and support by creating and monitoring processes that will ensure student success in multiple online learning environments.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Provide orientation for students taking online classes to ensure understanding of expectations for online learning programs (e.g. Online Catawba NCVPS etc.) to ensure students understand navigation and expectations.
  • Coordinate schedule and participate in face-to-face or virtual conferences with teachers students and/or parents.
  • Use the student information system (PowerSchool) to locate students schedules parent/student contact information etc.
  • Communicate and collaborate with online instructors for reporting grades attendance participation and other processes such as testing requirements.
  • Communicate and collaborate with the school/district testing coordinators to ensure students understand testing expectations and are testing in an approved testing environment.
  • Monitor student grades and report students who are not performing well (60% or below) to the principal and director of online learning.
  • If students fall below 60% the online learning facilitator (OLF) serves as the first point of contact for teachers students and parents.
    • OLFs make initial contact with students to inquire about reasons/causes for lack of success.
    • OLFs provide any necessary technical support for students and report results of inquiry back to the teacher counselor administrators and/or director of online learning.
    • OLFs communicate with parents to promote parent involvement for student success.
  • Keep attendance as required for students who participate in online courses in a face-to-face environment at the school.
  • Assist with coordinating ordering distributing and collecting (partnering with district and school textbook coordinators) textbooks and instructional materials for online courses.
  • Assist students who take instruction in a lab setting at the school.
  • Coordinate registrations and withdrawals for students enrolled in NCVPS and Apex courses.
    • This includes working with school counselors and/or administrators to make sure students have any necessary prerequisite courses.
  • Coordinate with data managers to make sure all courses and grades are placed on the students report card and transcript.
  • Work with the schools testing coordinator to coordinate any testing that is mandated by the course or by the state.

Teacher Assistant

Academic AssistanceGives group instruction as prescribed by individualized various instructional work assigned by and corrects students work while in students on and reinforces achievement of student progress to teacher.

Instructional Preparation/SupportServes as substitute classroom furnishings and visual materials at the end of as proctor during students papers as instructed by and collects instructional materials.

Reports and RecordsRecords student data according to regulatory teacher in filling out required paperwork.

Monitoring Student BehaviorSupervises students in the classroom and other and distributes awards for positive student citizenship social skills and respect for minor student in development of discipline misbehavior through approved discipline problems to teacher or to supervisor significant change or lack of change in student behavior.

ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Performs other related duties as assigned by the principal or supervisor.

Participates in staff development other related duties as assigned by the DL/I teacher and/or principal.

Bus Driver

Drives bus safely to destination and return. Conforms to traffic rules and regulations; makes vehicle pre-checks and records and reports malfunctions; follows school district regulations for handling vehicle breakdowns and accident incidents; and keeps the bus clean.

Follows school district procedures when driving assigned bus routes. Picks up and drops off students at designated times and bus stops; ensures students depart the bus at their usual stops; and determines that all students leave the bus at both ends of the route.

Monitor students behavior while they are riding on the bus. Take suitable action to resolve incidents between/among students should such incidents occur and report inappropriate student behavior to school authorities as soon as possible.

Safety of Others.Considerable responsibility for the safe transportation of students.



MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma with additional requirements below.

Teacher Assistant

  • Minimum of 48 hours of college level coursework. A minimum GPA of 2.0 is required or WorkKeys Certification including Business Writing.
  • Two years of experience working with children preferred or any equivalent combination of education training and experience that provides the knowledge skills and abilities required to perform the job functions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with parents schools community and district office personnel.
  • Willingness to undergo further training as required.
  • Experience using the computer.

Bus Driver

Five (5) years of responsible driving experience. Completion of the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles Bus Driver Training Course. Must be able to pass the required DOT Physical examination and have a DOT Drug Screen with negative results. Must be eligible to hold a Commercial Drivers License with Passenger Endorsement.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Physical Requirements: Requires light physical work. Must be able to lift up to ten pounds. Must be able to sit at a computer for extended periods of time.

Interpersonal Communication: Requires the ability to speak and/or signal people to convey or exchange information. Includes giving instructions assignments or directions to staff and students.

Language Ability:Requires the ability to read simple forms and reports. Requires the ability to prepare data sheets using the prescribed format.

Intelligence: Requires the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.

Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to record and deliver information to explain procedures to follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently in standard English.

Numerical Aptitude:Requires the ability to add subtract divide and multiply.

Interpersonal Temperament: Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under moderate levels of stress.

Physical Communications: Requires the ability to talk write and hear.



KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Teacher Assistant

  • Specific knowledge of the technology is required for the position.

  • Working knowledge of effective methods of dealing with children.
  • Working knowledge of the core subjects and the Spanish language at the grade levels to which employment assignment is made.
  • Some knowledge of the school organization and its community.
  • Some knowledge of expected behavior of children that is basic characteristics of ages and stages.
  • Skill necessary to operate audiovisual equipment and common office machines. Skill to make learning aids which will strengthen lesson plans.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

  • Ability to comprehend the purpose of teacher designed strategies as a fulfillment of the instructional objective.
  • Ability to discern significant student behavior and refer this to the supervisor. Ability to impart information to the childs level of comprehension.
  • Ability to apply impartially and consistently proper methods of recognition reward and punishment.
  • Ability to solve independently most minor problems.
  • Ability to follow minimally detailed written and oral instructions without constant supervision. Ability to record and store data accurately.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of student information

Bus Driver

  • Knowledge of driving laws and regulations
  • Knowledge of safe bus operations
  • Knowledge of vehicle pre-run checks and their performance
  • Maintain records of names and addresses of students locations and times of stops route information and time sheets
  • Administrative skills to implement established policies and procedures regarding student transportation enforcing rules of student conduct and discipline
  • Communication skills in dealing with students daily; communicating with parents regarding bus routes and discipline problems; and advising the transportation department of bus malfunctions
  • Leadership skills to maintain discipline on the bus
  • Manual skills to maintain bus cleanliness
  • Mechanical skills to detect bus malfunction
  • Planning skills to develop student seating arrangements
  • Common arithmetical function to count the number of students on the bus and to complete time
