JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: ICT and General Technician 2
REPORTS TO: School Principal through designated line manager
JOB PURPOSE
To assist the line manager in the development of ICT within the School to ensure that all computer systems and peripheral devices are maintained in good working order to meet the needs of the school and to provide technical support and assistance to teaching and support staff in the implementation of the schools educational programme.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
MAIN: Provision and Maintenance of ICT Facilities and Practical Resources
- Ensure that the school-owned computer systems and peripheral devices are maintained in good working order.
- Co-ordinate the repair of all ICT related equipment.
- Liaise with the authorised repair agencies as is necessary.
- Assist with the installation of ICT related hardware and ensuring its successful operation.
- Perform routine software operations as required.
- Make back-up copies of software for security purposes as required.
- Assist with the installation of software on any school managed network.
- Assist with the installation of software on stand-alone systems.
- Make minor alterations where appropriate and copyright permitting to software as directed.
- Maintain the schools website and support staff posting on the schools social media accounts
- Liaise with the managed service provider as required to support the maintenance of the Classroom 2000 infrastructure.
SUBSIDIARY: Provision and Maintenance of General Facilities and Practical Resources
- Prepare resources for practical classes including setting up testing demonstrating and dismantling suitable resources as per agreed schemes of work.
- Collect clean and store all equipment and materials securely in designated storage areas. Ensure items are maintained in a state of ready for use.
- Dispose of used materials in a safe and approved manner.
- Inform designated line manager of materials and equipment found to be in an unsatisfactory/unsafe condition and arrange for repair and disposal of such items.
- Ensure no unauthorised person has unsupervised access to equipment and materials when not in use.
- Advise on health and safety issues in relation to the use of equipment.
Administration
- Development maintenance and operation of manual and/or computerised systems in relation to relevant administrative tasks
- Maintenance of an inventory/records of relevant resources.
- Assistance in the ordering/purchasing receiving checking storing and distribution of resources.
General
- Support all staff in ensuring the general safety of pupils.
- Assist with evacuation in emergencies.
- Undertake photocopying as required.
Technical staff may be required to undertake any of the following duties:
- Handling cash in relation to the purchase of practical materials.
- Assisting with hospitality at meetings and school functions.
- Carrying out minor maintenance repairs throughout the school within the competence of the employee.

Other duties of a similar nature and appropriate to the grade may be assigned from time to time.
