Project Coordinator
Purpose:
Under general supervision this position coordinates the engineering and support activities for various projects and/or programs.
Duties Functions and Responsibilities:
Essential duties and functions pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
Communicates project and/or program information to internal and external customers.
Assists in the development and monitoring of project and/or program budgets by completing assignments that may include processing a pay application or monitoring and updating the assigned project budget.
Assists in the development of short- and long-range plans on projects or works on routine projects whereby techniques used are well known and present no unusual engineering problems.
Assists in the development and implementation of operating policies and procedures by providing input as a team member of an established process improvement team.
Ensures compliance with City and other regulatory agency requirements and policies by verifying that regulatory/permitting processes have been identified and permits or approvals acquired for assigned project.
Coordinates development/reviews construction or engineering related contracts contract documents and Developer Agreements by reviewing preparing and processing project change orders to projects if change orders are appropriate and in compliance or applying technical quality control review.
Coordinates and evaluates plans criteria schedules etc. for a variety of projects Programs and plans or a division and/or section activities.
Assists in the resolution of conflicts and difficult situations by providing supporting documentation policies and procedures.
Develops maintains and improves City of Austin design and construction standards.
Provides technical advice and assistance.

Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation with a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a related field plus three (3) years of experience in construction engineering architecture or related work.
Experience may substitute for education up to a maximum of four (4) years.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
May require a valid Texas drivers license.
Preferred Experience:
Experience leading large construction and facilities Capital Improvement Projects in a utility municipality or other similarly regulated entity
Certification such as Project Management Professional Facility Management Professional Certified Facility Manager Sustainability Facility Professional or similar license or certifications or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment.
Experience in project management principles developing project schedules and plans incorporating sustainability principles managing multiple contracts and contractors and leading major new construction and renovation projects.
Results-driven self-directed detail-oriented anticipate issues adaptability and flexibility to changes and ability to prioritize work assignments in alignment with organizational goals.
Effective verbal and written communication skills with various levels of internal customers stakeholders and the public and an ability to develop relationships with customers by resolving differences and conflicts.
Experience planning and executing projects including division moves space reconfigurations and facility renovations.
Position Overview:
The Facilities Project Coordinator is responsible for project management and coordination associated with Austin Waters Facility Management Division and various facility-related CIP projects. This position oversees and manages construction renovation and major maintenance/repair projects monitors contractors inspectors the work performed by internal teams etc. Responsible for planning organizing and overseeing projects inspecting work and overseeing subcontractors and crews in completing the project ensuring safety and timely completion. The position reports to the Facilities Planning Manager.
Critical Employee:
This position has been designated as critical for the City of Austin. Critical positions are vital and support activities that impact City or department operations. Work can be done while at a designated work site or while working at an alternate work location. Critical employees may be reassigned to another area to provide essential services to support any extraordinary situations or emergency conditions.
