Description
The Campus Safety Support RM1Coordinator provides assistance to students staff faculty and visitors in order to ensure a safe and supportive campus environment. The Campus Safety Support Coordinator acts as a friendly and approachable resource for students faculty staff and visitors fostering a sense of safety and belonging on campus.
Assigned shifts are regular but may be subject to change temporarily depending on operational needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responds in a supportive helpful and calming way to calls for immediate assistance with safety issues health emergencies maintenance issues fire alarms and safety issues.
- Notifies and interfaces with appropriate campus departments and/or off-campus emergency services to address urgent issues or emergencies in order to ensure a safe resolution.
- Assists with building and campus control access including opening and closing of facilities and the gates lockouts and other related concerns.
- Assesses after-hours student concerns and activates the professional staff call-back system as needed.
- Assists in the administration of the campus parking program including permit issues parking-related concerns and the resolution of parking-related disputes.
- Assists in the issuance and management of Petrel passes.
- Circulates through the campus on regular schedules to ensure appropriate building access control identify any parking concerns report visible safety issues and create a visible and helpful presence on campus.
- Offer directions and information about campus resources and services.
- Maintain a visible and approachable presence on campus to promote a safe and supportive environment.
- Document and report incidents or concerns to the appropriate campus authorities. Including grounds or maintenance issues concerning behavior or potential safety concerns.
- Provides accurate and timely documentation through the Campus Safety reporting system
RM1I believe that the word officer will always connote law enforcement in the context of safety. Coordinator is a typical entry level title in Student Affairs.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in various situations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and resourcefulness.
- A friendly and approachable demeanor.
- Knowledge of campus layout and resources is preferred.
- Prior experience in a customer service or support role is a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in a related field is a plus.
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as needed.
- This position may require walking and standing for extended periods.
- The Campus Support Coordinator will primarily work outdoors and may be exposed to various weather conditions.
Advancement Opportunities
