Job Summary

DIRECTOR OF CURRICULUM INSTRUCTION AND ASSESSMENTFunction: To facilitate curriculum in both elementary and secondary education for the district of Coventry Public Schools. To assist in the development promotion and implementation of the districts priorities and objectives as they relate to the instructional programs for students and teachers. REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent of SchoolsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Masters Degree in ability in instructional management budgeting curriculum planning staff development and supervision of to work cooperatively with diverse groups and all segments of the school of federal and state funding grant programs regulations and laws governing curriculum instruction and certificate as an Administrator of Curriculum/Instruction or Superintendent of Schools.6. Must be an employee in good standing including attendance professionalism and evaluation. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:Provides leadership assistance in support of the Assistant Superintendent for the development promotion and implementation of the districts priorities and objectives.2. Assists in directing improving and coordinating the districts instructional and assessment programs to improve student achievement.3. Makes recommendations to the Superintendent for program and policy changes.4. Conducts district-wide research and develops a system of program evaluation as needed.5. Keeps informed on educational trends and research findings.6. Keeps the Superintendent informed regarding all state instructional mandates regulations requirements etc. 7. Coordinates a communication process to facilitate interaction among teachers in different schools and to guarantee sharing of ideas gained by individual teachers through conference attendance workshop experiences and content courses.8. Assists with summer school program and works with all teachers in all alternative programs both curricular and co-curricular.9. Provides district-wide direction coordination and leadership in the areas of curriculum instruction supervision and assessment (Teaching and Learning).10. Utilizes strategic planning to establish priorities goals for educational services and prepare short- and long-range plans to accomplish these goals.11. Aids in the development of sound educational programming and practices and assists staff members in the design implementation and evaluation of programs.12. Supervises the professional development and in-service education programs for members of the certified and non-certified staff of the school district.13. Attends all regular and special meetings of the School Committee.14. Interprets the educational program of the school district to the School Committee the professional staff and the community in concert with the Superintendent.15. Facilitates the Districts Curriculum & Professional Development Council.16. Studies evaluates and as appropriate recommends adoption of new instructional materials methods and programs. Assists in budget preparation for newly approved instructional programs supplies equipment and materials. 17. Responsible for organizing district-wide testing programs reviewing evaluating and reporting assessment outcomes and for other evaluative measures used by the schools.18. Assists in the recruitment screening hiring training and assigning of instructional personnel.19. Support with the supervision of Building Administrators.20. Coordinates all formal efforts of the professional staff in projects of curriculum improvement.21. Communicates to the Assistant Superintendent the requirements and needs of the district as perceived by staff members.22. Completes periodic reports required by federal state and local agencies and others as directed by the Superintendent.23. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the Assistant Superintendent may Range: $118000 - $125000Starting Date: January 2026
