We are seeking a dedicated General Roadway Technician to join our infrastructure maintenance this role you will perform daily maintenance repairs and servicing of roadways and related infrastructure assets. Responsibilities include the upkeep of contracted areas such as roadways medians signage guardrails fencing bridges tunnels and vegetationensuring all work meets contract standards and supervisor direction.
This position is ideal for candidates with a strong work ethic attention to safety and a willingness to work in a variety of outdoor environments. Open to entry-level applicants and those with equipment operation experience.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
- Set up and remove traffic control devices (cones arrow/message boards temporary signs) to ensure safe work zones.
- Perform maintenance and repairs on road surfaces including pothole patching striping reflector installation and working with concrete and asphalt.
- Maintain the appearance of highways and medians through litter and debris removal.
- Repair and maintain slopes berms culverts and drainage systems using hand and power tools.
- Control vegetation growth using mowing equipment trimmers sprayers and other methods.
- Work safely at heights using bucket trucks ladders scaffolding and aerial lift platforms.
- Follow all company policies and safety procedures.
- Operate pickup trucks and specialized vehicles/trailers to transport crew and equipment to job sites.
- Conduct basic maintenance and minor repairs on company vehicles and equipment.
- Promote a strong customer service culture within the team.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications :
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience:
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
- Bilingual (English & Spanish)- required.
- Equipment operation experience preferred.
- Must have your own reliable transportation.
- Must have a valid drivers license with at least 5 years of clean driving.
- Must be available to be on the on-call rotation for emergency response.
- Must be able to travel away from home periodically as needed.
- Must be able to work independently or within a team setting.
- Must be able to comply with company drug and alcohol policy.
- First aid/CPR preferred.
- Advanced MOT preferred.
- Required to be available for emergency response rotations as needed for overtime evenings weekends and holidays.
