About the role

This role contributes to the success of the City by performing effective and efficient biodiversity program field works for the City of Hobarts bushland.

Role accountabilities include:

  • Deliver fire and biodiversity field activities across the Citys bushland reserve system including bushland restoration pest/plant and animal management fuel reduction burning wildfire suppression and bushfire hazard abatement.
  • Assist the Team Leader in the delivery of field activities and ensure readiness for emergency incident response.
  • Operate and maintain equipment and materials to enable efficient and safe delivery of field works.
  • Collect and record field data contribute to biodiversity assessments and provide advice for policy and plan development.
  • Update management and administrative systems related to work programs and resource requirements.

About you

We are seeking someone who is passionate about biodiversity and fire management with strong practical skills and a commitment to safety and teamwork.

You will bring:

  • Formal qualifications in Conservation and Land Management (Certificate III or Similar) or equivalent relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience in biodiversity conservation and bushfire/weed management field operations.
  • Ability to operate small plant and machinery safely and effectively.
  • Strong teamwork skills with good written and verbal communications and problem-solving abilities.
  • Current Drivers Licence and Registration to Work with Vulnerable People.
