Full-time: 35 hours per week

Fixed term: to 30 April 2027

Childlight is looking to appoint a highly-motivated Web Development and Application Specialist responsible for consulting on designing and delivering a number of key Childlight operational and public-facing web applications.

The Opportunity:

Childlight a groundbreaking global child safety institute has been established and embedded within the University of Edinburgh to take a data driven evidence-based approach to better understand the prevalence and nature of child sexual exploitation and abuse (CSEA) globally. This data and analysis is used by policy makers and practitioners across the world to make better informed decisions to safeguard children.

The role requires working with the Childlight research teams globally to construct flagship Childlight projects including our Into The Light global CSEA prevalence index and our Searchlight reports in a highly-engaging and accessible manner and developing and maintaining the Childlight website.

This post is full-time (35 hours per week) and fixed-term until 30 April 2027.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Demonstrable experience of web development skills and frameworks (PHP).
  • Experience of delivering data visualisations in web applications (ChartJS LeafletJS) with demonstrable examples.
  • Strong background in SQL and JSON for database and data-driven scripting
  • Significant experience of working with multi-sector programmes and global institutions with proven ability to establish effective stakeholder relationships.
  • Significant experience managing and working in multi-user (technical and non-technical) environments.
  • A passion for making the world a better place and preventing child sexual abuse and exploitation improving services and safeguarding children.
