COMPENSATION: Typical starting rate$20.22 hourly
STATUS & HOURS: Part-time regular (approximately 1040 annual hours) position.
BENEFITS: Eligible to participate in State Employee Group Insurance Program and a retirement program with employer contribution. Generous vacation and sick time accruals.

DESCRIPTION: This position exists to provide leadership high quality customer service and operational support to the Visitor Services areas of Mill City Museum.
SUMMARY OF WORK: 1) Perform admission duties and provide visitor information with a consistent high level of customer service and comprehensive knowledge of the site; 2) Sell merchandise and provide high-level operational assistance in the museum store; 3) Provide operational support and mentorship as a lead visitor services team member; and 4) Assist with school programs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Two years of cash handling and retail or customer service experience.
Demonstrated high quality positive customer service skills.
Strong organizational and personal computer skills.
Demonstrated ability to communicate with a diverse public in a positive and friendly manner in person and over the phone.
Demonstrated ability to independently problem solve and respond to visitor concerns with patience empathy and grace.
Availability to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends evenings and holidays as necessary.
Ability to work independently under supervision and as part of a team.
Average math and computer skills.
Ability to troubleshoot software hardware and point-of-sale issues.
Strong understanding of retail and money handling procedures.
Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
Ability to bend crouch kneel to move merchandise and perform light cleaning duties.
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience with ticketing and/or point of sale software particularly Shopify.
Previous experience mentoring coaching training and providing work direction for staff or volunteers in a visitor-focused setting.
Retail sales and admissions experience in a museum/historic site
Foreign language skills.
Knowledge of retail display and marketing techniques.
Knowledge of Minnesota and area history.
Experience counting down cash drawers and preparing deposits.
