Summary of Job Duties:
Adjunct Faculty to teach American Sign Language or interpreter training courses at the post-secondary level for the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. This position will be responsible for teaching course(s) in-class assessing student-submitted work and following the course objectives and syllabus prepared for the course. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.
Qualifications:
Required Education and/or Experience:
Masters degree in ASL Interpreting or other related fields;
Native or native-like competency in ASL.
Preferred Education and/or Experience:
Experience teaching in-class and online.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach assigned courses;
Assess student-submitted work;
Follow course objectives and syllabus;
Commit to teaching the entire university semester;
Participate as a part of the IEP faculty team.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of classroom instruction;
Ability to manage motivate and evaluate a diverse population of students;
Collegial and cordial attitude toward interaction with colleagues students and staff;
Demonstrable content knowledge of American Sign Language and Deaf Culture and closely related fields and the ties between the field and various allied disciplines;
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills;
Self-motivated responsible and able to work with minimal direct supervision.
