Reports to: Site Principal
Supervises: None
Qualifications:
- Hold or be eligible for Oklahoma Standard School Nurse Teacher Certification.
- Bachelors degree required.
- Previous nursing experience preferred.
- Basic Life Support Certification.
- Satisfy all district requirements with regard to physical health and citizenship.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.
Position Goal: Support excellence in student learning as a health care provider and care manager in the school setting.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Provide care to students in the clinic and dispense all medications as prescribed by protocols.
- Verify record and follow-up on required student immunizations.
- Promote and provide instructions for a healthy lifestyle.
- Maintain update and verify emergency information for all students.
- Collect and disseminate chronic disease lists annually.
- Write Individual Health Plans for Health Conditions as needed and communicate with parents and teachers.
- Maintain a daily log of clinic visits complete monthly and semester reports as required.
- Conduct annual vision and hearing screenings.
- Participate in site Healthy and Fit Committees.
- Teach students health education in the classroom i.e. AIDS education development as requested by individual teachers/administration or required by law.
- Conduct AIDS education meetings for parents and instructional staff for grades 5-12.
- Provide site and District administrators with information regarding new developments in the field.
- Maintain effective relationships with parents when explaining the goals objectives and programs of the school and the Health Services.
- Comply with JPS policies and procedures and protocols for Health Services.
- Document and report suspected child abuse according to District policy as required by law.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Employment Terms: Nine (9) months a year. Salary and work year to be established by the Board. Benefits as established by Board policy.

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board of Educations policy on Staff Evaluation (2.20/certified).
