JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct nursing care to residents in a skilled nursing and long-term care setting. The nurse ensures high-quality patient-centered care while maintaining compliance with Genesis HealthCare policies state regulations and professional nursing standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to assigned residents in a skilled nursing/long-term care environment
- Perform patient assessments and monitor changes in condition
- Administer medications treatments and IV therapy (RN scope as applicable)
- Document nursing care accurately and timely in the electronic medical record
- Collaborate with physicians nurse managers and interdisciplinary care teams
- Supervise and support CNAs and ancillary staff
- Respond promptly to patient needs emergencies and call lights
- Educate residents and families regarding care plans and medications
- Maintain infection control safety and regulatory compliance
- Uphold resident dignity confidentiality and quality-of-care standards
Patient Ratios (Typical)
- Day Shift: 1 nurse to approximately 15 25 residents
(Ratios may vary based on census and staffing needs)
Requirements
- Active RN license in the practicing state
- Current BLS/CPR certification
- Minimum 1 year of skilled nursing or long-term care experience preferred
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and documentation skills
