Position Summary
The Research Scientist will play a significant role in the National Crystallization Center ( NCC ) operations a major resource for the scientific community. The NCC is a research facility serving the structural biology community that focuses on advancing crystallization science and providing researchers access to state-of-the-art experimental methods for generating macromolecular crystals for structure this role you will: Engage in daily operations of the NCC . Develop and manage the optimization pipelines in the Center. Work with the rest of the NCC team. Provide support in supervision of NCC research associates. Engage in outreach activities. Teach at NCC workshops. Present at conferences. This is an ideal position for a creative PhD-level scientist who is passionate about crystallography and wants to work in an exciting and collaborative group. Minimum Qualifications
PhD in a relevant field with expertise in crystallization methods and molecular biology Knowledge of macromolecular crystallography and protein biochemistry Highly collaborative and team-oriented approach to conducting work engaging in research activities and solving problems Ability to design and perform laboratory experiments with deep attention to detail and excellent organizational skills Ability to work effectively with the external scientific community regarding the National Crystallization Center including participation and representation at scientific meetings and conferences Excellent written and oral communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of (or willingness to learn about) automation and robotics for crystallization Demonstrated experience in a broad range of X-ray crystallography methods such as crystallization screening optimization seeding and harvesting
