Container Design and Bottle Inspection Engineer

Summary:

This position is primarily responsible for conducting detailed inspections on bottles and preparing clear complete accurate detailed drawings from rough or detailed sketches notes or by reverse engineering sample containers by performing the following duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Bottle Inspection: 50% of time

Conduct destructive and non-destructive tests on sample containers including but not limited to: compression force/vacuum/drop impact testing; dimensional measurements using manual and automatic equipment; capacity measurement for overflow capacity fill point and fill capacity; wall thickness measurement; and preparing inspection reports using statistical measurements such as Cpk level.

3D CAD Modeling and Design

Creation of detailed 3D virtual models using surface and solid modeling techniques using PTC CREO; modification of existing models; import and evaluate CAD data from other software programs; study and design preliminary preform designs capacity thickness calculations estimation of cycle time modification of existing models. And using SolidWorks to evaluate the customers 3D data.

2D CAD drawing

Creation of detailed and/or reference drawings for the customers approval provide detailed information regarding manufacturing requirements and modification of existing drawings.

Technical Documentation (Proposal sheet)

Documentation of design and revision history feasibility studies project scope and special technical considerations for each detailed drawing.

Technical Study

Evaluation of designs for feasibility and provide estimates for cavitation and cycle time. Evaluate special machine and/or mold requirements. Evaluation of feasibility of sharing mold parts. Occasionally request confirmation from the factories in Japan and India.

CRM & Spreadsheet Data Input

Data entry of relevant project specifications. (Manage the data depending on Managers demand)

Project Data Management

Management of various project data including: filing of soft copies of drawings and documents into server/cloud systems; and entry of project information into databases.

Drawing Checks

Check the drawings and technical reports of colleagues to ensure accuracy and that THE COMPANYs quality standards are maintained.

Sample Bottle Storage

Catalogue store and archive sample bottles from THE COMPANYs factories and customers.

Drawing & Data Management

File hard & soft copies of drawings and related information. Data saving in Google Drive and share information to THE COMPANYs factory.

3D Printer

Creation of mockup models for evaluation & confirmation of designs for customers and THE COMPANY group. And manage 3D printer materials.

Quote Mockup Model

Quote mockup models to the customer or other THE COMPANY subsidiaries.

Sample Bottle & Mockup Model Shipment

Packing and shipping of sample containers and 3D printed mockup models to the customer or other THE COMPANY subsidiaries.

Communication

Communication will primarily be with the Sales and Mold Design staff but direct communication with the customer and THE COMPANYs factories will be required.

3D Scanner

Set up and operate the 3D scanner to evaluate designs and aid in CAD modeling or provide scanned data to other departments/customers.

Education and/or Experience:

A bachelor of science degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university in engineering discipline (mechanical industrial industrial design product design or related field) is preferred.

One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:

Must be fluent in both written and spoken English

Ability to read analyze and interpret general business periodicals professional journals technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers clients customers and the general public.

Mathematical Skills:

Strong 2D and 3D geometric reasoning is required for this position. Ability to follow established equations and apply concepts such as fractions percentages ratios and proportions to practical situations. Familiarity with statistics is also preferred.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully an individual must have working knowledge of either Solid Modeling or Surface Modeling techniques using CAD software and proficiency using office documents such as Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word. 2 years of experience with PTC Creo/ProEngineer is preferred or other 3D CAD Software is acceptable.
