The Sovereign Advisory Group advises central banks ministries of finance and economy and multilateral institutions globally on a wide array of solutions including credit ratings management broader market and multilateral engagement market-based funding strategies. The work entails stakeholder management at the highest levels of government leveraging J.P. Morgans diverse lines of business to provide sovereign clients with best-in-class service and strategic guidance.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will play a vital and accountable role in all aspects of supporting and leading sovereign advisory mandates. The Associate / Vice Presidents responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
- Daily mandate execution and ratings management for sovereign clients
- Preparation and oversight of presentation materials memorandum briefing notes pitches and other materials for use in interaction with CRA3 and other strategic client dialogue
- Detailed rating analysis for existing sovereign clients including sovereign balance sheet macroeconomic contingent liability and political analysis
- Maintain and develop relationships with existing sovereign clients and actively market advisory services to key target clients
Requirements
- 6-7 years minimum professional work experience
- Prior work experience in a Sovereign Advisory or Public Sector field (investment bank institutional investor multilateral development bank official sector rating agency) is a core requirement
- Familiarity with the full spectrum of sovereign financial accounts encompassing public sector and central bank balance sheets SOE/GRE inter-linkages with general government finances indebtedness arbitrage between government and public sector entities
- Proven track record and a genuine interest in sovereigns
- Strong academic background in undergraduate level economics international relations
- Experience in client interfacing roles with a preference for candidates who have managed mandates previously
- Experience in product development and innovation
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English
- Deep familiarity with credit rating agency models
- Ability to draft high quality presentations and documentation
- Ability to manage and prioritize workload during periods of high intensity
- Comfort in and commitment to strong teamwork environment; demonstrated ability to mentor coach and develop junior team members
- Fluency in Mandarin and / or Spanish preferred but not mandatory
