LOCATION


This position is fully on-site and requires a regular presence in Fort Smith Arkansas. Remote or hybrid work is not available for this position.


JOB SUMMARY


The Payroll Coordinator handles payroll processing function as well as maintaining employee data handling payroll questions and completing any other tasks necessary for monitoring and overseeing the payroll process and compliance reporting.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Process 26 Bi-Weekly Payrolls and 24 Semi-Monthly Payrolls
  • Check payroll information for accuracy and ensure all relevant paperwork is in order
  • Coordinate with HR about changes in payroll (e.g. new hires increases etc.)
  • Oversee electronic payments of payroll checks
  • Maintain and update employee compensation
  • Process other financial compensations or deductions (e.g. bonuses benefits garnishment child support etc.)
  • Produce reports for upper management and compliance purposes
  • Monitor eligibility entry dates of 401(k) for employees
  • Handles 401(k) transactions including depositing deferrals and managing employer contributions within the retirement plan
  • Handles HSA transactions including depositing employee and employer contributions
  • Assists with 401(k) audit needs
  • Assists with ACA tracking and reporting
  • Completes annual reporting for IPEDS and CUPA
  • Answer employee inquiries about compensation and deductions
  • Provide clerical support to the HR department including assisting with special projects
  • Other duties as assigned by Vice President of Human Resources or their designee

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS


Education and Experience


Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Required two years of comprehensive payroll experience
  • Five years of experience in a professional office environment
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain highly confidential information in the field of human resources payroll the finance industry or HIPAA related information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent work-related experience
  • Three plus years of payroll processing experience
  • Knowledge of employment law
  • Experience with administration of benefits
  • HR generalist experience
  • Experience with creating presentations and organizational charts
  • Experience with legal documents
  • Experience in administrative assistant role

Required knowledge skills and abilities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to maintain highly confidential information

  • May be required to accomplish job duties using various types of equipment/supplies to include but not limited to pens pencils calculators computer keyboards telephone etc.
  • May be required to transport oneself to other campus offices conference rooms and on occasion to off-campus sites to attend meetings conferences workshops seminars etc.
  • May require significant travel or work away from campus.
  • Requires attendance at events representing ACHE both within as well as outside of the college setting.
  • Frequently required to work at a desk conference table or in meetings of various configurations.
  • Frequently required to hear and understand speech at normal levels.
  • Occasionally required to lift items in a normal office environment.
  • Frequently required to operate office and presentation equipment.
