THIS IS A PART-TIME GRANT-FUNDED POSITION FUNDED UNTIL 07/31/2026 (28 HOURS PER WEEK)
JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Research Technician 2 assists with interdisciplinary research projects that use zebrafish mouse and rabbit models to study calcium signaling in retinal synapses during development adulthood and disease.
Responsibilities- Performs electrophysiology confocal imaging molecular biology and biochemistry experiments under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI).
- Performs analysis of the data generated under the direction of the PI.
- Participates in the research project design manuscript and grant writing.
- Plans experiments (design preparation for the experiment writing procedure and protocols writing lab notes) data recording data analysis.
- Participates in conferences and lab meetings.
- Assists in the preparation of reagents supply inventory supply orders equipment maintenance and animal colony management.
- Assists students and technicians in research projects and experiments.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
QualificationsMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:Bachelors Degree in Physiology Biological Science or a related field.(TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE: ORa combination of college coursework and work experience to equal four (4) years.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Excellent organizational and communication skills are essential.
- Familiarity with biochemistry and molecular biology assays is desirable but not compulsory.
- Highly motivated with a sincere passion for research.
- Ability to learn new techniques and have logical thinking.
- Ability to write manuscripts and research proposals.
WORK SCHEDULE:This position may occasionally be required to work weekends and evenings. May require occasional overnight travel.
