THIS IS A GRANT-FUNDED POSITION FUNDED UNTIL 11/30/2028.
JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI) the Researcher 1 supports all phases of the research and drug discovery group at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. This position is involved in the understanding of the functions of nuclear hormone receptors enzymes and kinases.
Responsibilities- Performs protein purification cloning and crystallography.
- Provide research support in various cell-based and molecular pharmacology assays leading to the discovery of new drugs and elucidation of their mechanisms of action.
- Performs advanced data analysis and interpretation.
- Develops methodologies and new assay.
- Performs technical laboratory work including polymerase chain reaction gel electrophoresis and DNA/RNA isolations.
- Supervises students and junior assistants
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
QualificationsEDUCATION:Bachelors Degree. (Masters Degree in Immunology or Cancer Cell Biology preferred.)(TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of relevant experience; ORMasters Degree and one (1) year of relevant experience.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge and experience in protein purification cloning and structural biology and assay development.
WORK SCHEDULE: This position may occasionally be required to work evenings and weekends.
