Reporting to the Director of Communications and Policy the primary responsibility of this position is to supportTrondekHwechin(TH) Governments development and implementation of communication strategiesprojectsand related activities. This position coordinates a range of prioritiesincluding:drafting press releases speeches and reports; designing and developing newsletters brochures monthly calendars; managing and creating on-line content for the TH website social media presence promotional materials and advertisements; and organizinglogisticsassociated withpress releases news conferences and announcements.This positionis responsible forresearch and analysis producing summary briefings and providing executive level reports to inform decision-making. This role will take on special assignments and may also support General Assemblies and other general meetings as directed by the Director of Communications and Policy.
An Eligibility List may beestablishedfrom this competition the duration of the eligibility list may be up to 12 months. The eligibility list may be used to fill future permanent full-time permanent part-time temporary full-time temporary part-time termor auxiliary on-call vacancies within the same department and classification based on the organizational needs by going the next highest ranked candidate until the eligibility list expires.

EssentialQualifications:
- Post-Secondary Degree in Journalism Public RelationsCommunicationsor related discipline. An equivalent combination of education trainingskillsand abilities may be considered.
- A minimum of two (2) yearspreviousexperience in a similar role preferably in a government environment.
- Previousexperience planning and coordinating projects campaignseventsand activities.
- Demonstrated experienceutilizingand administering website content management systems.
- Extensive experience preparing written materials / executive level summaries on a tight deadline.
- Demonstrated experience in general office management practices and procedures associated with working within a government setting.
- Proficient inutilizinggraphic design software (Adobe In-Design Photoshopetc) Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word Outlook PowerPoint) and ability to moderate videoconference / Zoom meetings.
- Knowledge of theTrondëkHwëchingovernment structure culture traditions history demographics family structures and socio-economic dynamics challenges and aspirations.
