The WAM Accounting & Reporting team manages the ledger close process and oversees accounting analysis and financial reporting for Manulifes Legal Entity Reporting (LER) subsidiaries including limited partnerships and equity-accounted investments in Alternative Asset Classes. Reporting to the Manager this role is responsible for analyzing and preparing subsidiary financial statements board reports and regulatory filings while supporting external audit activities. The incumbent will play a key role in financial statement automation to enhance monthly and quarterly reporting efficiency. This position requires strong analytical skills attention to detail and collaboration with stakeholders to ensure accurate timely and compliant reporting.
Position Responsibilities:
Lead the monthly/quarterly preparation of financial statements CFO and Board of Directors reporting packages and disclosures for a number of US and Canadian subsidiaries
Prepare variance commentary explaining quarter-over-quarter and year-over-year changes
Preparation of all legal entity regulatory reporting requirements for US and Canadian subsidiaries on a monthly and quarterly basis
Oversight of financial statement preparation and coordination of annual external audits for US and Canadian subsidiaries
Provide prompt and accurate service to setup and evaluate the financial reporting implications of new products and initiatives
Working with the team assist in developing and implement processes and controls to support legal entity reporting
Work independently or with management to identify complex operational business issues
Develop solutions to automate existing manual processes within Global WAM
Prepare memos and supporting documentation for accounting policy changes and dividend projections and communicate to all collaborators
Lead meetings with business partners to analyze and document business processes and collect business requirements for new solutions
Required Qualifications:
University degree in Business or equivalent
CPA designation or actively pursuing CPA
General understanding of IFRS and US GAAP standards
3 years of progressive experience in accounting financial services and/or consulting
Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and other MS Office tools (Word PowerPoint PowerBI)
Strong problem-solving abilities well-organized to manage tight deadlines and multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with initiative
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with collaborators
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with financial reporting tools such as Infor/Lawson Oracle Smart View accounting units (1Stop 1Exp Anaplan) and cost centers a strong plus
Experience in the public and private investment management industry reporting would be an asset

Salary range is expected to be between
