Process Engineer
JOB SUMMARY
Professional position that will support and lead process engineering projects that promote improvements on food production lines. Needs to be able to learn and understand how process steps affect the quality of food attributes and evaluate these attributes. Help support Basic American Foods path for continues improvement using lean principles and acting as a technical leader helping guide and coach. Support and justify improvements by collecting process data and performing statistical analysis of the data.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Will perform the role of the technical resources in process performance issues within the manufacturing environment. Using data and lean principles to help production teams with root cause analysis and testing as required.
- Provide support of capital improvement projects including the development of project requirements project justification equipment flow sheets and process line layouts. Also accountable for new equipment startup operator training written operating procedures and specifications and process conformance to justification criteria.
- Be familiar with statistical analysis of data to help support DOE experiments and direct process improvements through data collection.
- Have a continuous improvement mindset and the ability to work with a cross functional team as a technical leader in the company.
- Ability to coach and teach floor level leadership on process characteristics and continuous improvement mindset.
- Have a strong desire to learn food characteristics and understand on how food is produced and affected by processing equipment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelors degree or higher in Chemical or Mechanical engineering preferred; and at least five years of related experience as a process engineer.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Should have strong knowledge of Microsoft Office including Access Word and Excel.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Ability to do statistical analysis and interpret results.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and written within all levels of company employees.
- Demonstrates technical leadership functioning as a technical thought leader in project teams taking accountability for overall results including performance process OEE and training.
- Have experience with processing equipment (use and operation) and has ability to perform analytical tests accurately and efficiently for product evaluation. Operation of process equipment is required.
- Have flexibility to work beyond normal workday hours shift work and some weekends. Travel is required for this position.
