Job Summary

This is a long-term guest teaching assignment paid hourly and not health insurance/benefit eligible.

It is part-time (based on 142 hours/school year total)

Applicants may also be required to complete the ESS Midwest/Willsub application as a guest teacher.

General Summary:

An Elementary Title I Interventionist will work directly with Title 1 identified Tier 2 students as chosen by classroom teachers and/or the building Principal with the goal of using sound instructional techniques and progress monitoring to elevate student performance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Assists classroom teachers and/or building Principal in identifying Tier 2 students
  2. Models the best use of instructional practices for student learning and the use of data to inform instructional decisions
  3. Uses technology tools to enhance instruction and student learning
  4. Manages the use of all aspects of the use of technology tools
  5. Assists the Principal with the creation and communication of procedures for technology use as needed
  6. Communicates weekly with classroom teachers regarding student progress and determine adjustments in instructional practices as needed
  7. Other duties as assigned

Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required:

  1. Minimum education requirement of a Bachelors degree in Education with a valid Michigan teaching certificate.
  2. Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with students and school personnel.
  3. Demonstrated use of best practices beliefs and results for learning for all.
  4. Previous experience working with children.
  5. Ability to care for supervise and nurture children.
  6. Strong and effective communication skills with students and adults individually as well as in small or large groups.
  7. Ability to follow directions.
  8. Ability to work independently.
  9. Ability to assist with maintaining records of student progress.
  10. Excellent organizational skills.
  11. Ability to resolve conflict.
  12. Dependable reliable and protective of sensitive/confidential information.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  1. Must be able to report on a regular and consistent basis.
  2. Maintain consistent and punctual attendance.
  3. Duties include frequent walking and physical activity as well as use of hands and arms for signaling and light lifting/carrying. Must have the ability to move about the classroom/building and school property including bending pushing/pulling lifting twisting climbing stooping or crouching to complete work-related tasks with and without students.
  4. The ability to listen and effectively orally communicate information and ideas to a diverse population.
  5. Ability to effectively discern information and formulate appropriate action(s).
  6. Ability to critically think and provide appropriate solutions.
  7. Ability to work effectively and efficiently.

Environmental Conditions:

Incumbents work in indoor environments with moderate to loud noise levels. Duties may be completed in cold and hot temperatures including work on slippery and/or uneven surfaces. Work environment includes working around students school equipment and office equipment.

Work Schedules:

Must be available to report during the school year consistent with the districts school year calendar.

Background Checks:

The individual selected for this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check.
