Job Summary

A postdoctoral position is available in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Tulane University located on the historic Uptown campus in New Orleans. The postdoctoral researcher will join Dr. Shuaihua Gaos laboratory which investigates the structural and dynamic mechanisms by which estrogen receptor α (ERα) integrates genetic post-translational and signaling perturbations to control transcriptional outcomes in hormone-responsive cancers.

The successful candidate will lead projects using hydrogendeuterium exchange mass spectrometry (HDX-MS) protein engineering and biochemical reconstitution to map how ERα conformational states govern cofactor assembly and therapeutic resistance. Additional opportunities include applying computational modeling proteomics and transcriptomic profiling to connect receptor ensembles to gene regulation and testing therapeutic hypotheses in disease-relevant models.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Ph.D. in Biochemistry Biophysics Chemical/Biomedical Engineering Structural Biology or a closely related field.

2. Demonstrated research experience in one or more of the following areas: protein biochemistry mass spectrometry structural biology molecular biophysics or nuclear receptor signaling.

3. Excellent written and oral communication skills as evidenced by publications and presentations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Hands-on expertise in hydrogendeuterium exchange mass spectrometry (HDX-MS) or related structural proteomics approaches.

2. Experience with proteinprotein or proteinligand interaction assays (e.g. pulldown co-IP fluorescence polarization ChIP-based methods).

3. Familiarity with post-translational modification analysis and kinase signaling pathways relevant to transcriptional regulation.
