Job Description: The Uxbridge Public Schools seeks an innovative special educator with licensure as a teacher of students with moderate or severe disabilities for its K-3 substantially separate classroom. Develop implement and assess Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and behavior plans for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other neuro-cognitive and developmental delays including writing and reporting on student goals and progress. Conduct assessments and standardized testing to support the eligibility evaluation process and ongoing progress monitoring. Actively participate in Team meetings for eligibility annual reviews and re-evaluations. Administer and interpret formal and informal educational assessments preparing written reports as needed. Analyze student work samples and data to monitor progress and identify skill development needs Provide intensive specialized instruction in a substantially separate classroom setting focusing on academics functional life skills communication and social-emotional development. Implement evidence-based practices to support students with ASD and other cognitive disabilities including structured teaching strategies visual supports and communication systems (e.g. AAC PECS). Develop and implement positive behavior support plans and crisis intervention strategies using functional behavior assessments. Collaborate with Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) special educators and related service providers and consult with general education staff to identify and provide inclusion opportunities and strategies to support student participation in the least restrictive environment. Maintain regular communication with families/caregivers regarding student progress and home-school collaboration strategies. Facilitate annual review and progress update Team meetings as required. Create and maintain a structured predictable classroom environment that supports student collaboration with building and district administration provide training support and daily supervision for support staff (paraeducators and/or ABA techs) to ensure consistent implementation of instructional and behavioral strategies. Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations in all aspects of the special education process.
