Job Overview:

The Structural Fitter (Steel Works Department) will be responsible for fitting assembling and installing structural components used in shipyard and steel fabrication projects. The role involves interpreting technical drawings ensuring precision fitting and maintaining quality standards in all fabrication and installation work within the steel workshop or on-site.

Job Role & Responsibilities:

Read and interpret engineering drawings blueprints and fabrication sketches.

Fit and assemble structural steel components according to project specifications.

Measure cut and align metal sections using appropriate tools and machines.

Perform tack welding grinding and finishing operations as required.

Ensure proper alignment and levelness of structures during installation.

Work closely with welders and fabricators to complete assemblies accurately.

Conduct quality checks to ensure all fittings meet safety and design standards.

Maintain tools machines and workspace in good working condition.

Follow safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE at all times.

Support supervisors and engineers with on-site fitting and repair work when needed.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience:

Education: ITI / Diploma in Mechanical or Structural Fabrication.

Experience: Minimum 35 years as a Structural Fitter in shipyard construction or industrial fabrication sectors.

Must have experience in steel fabrication and installation work.

Gulf experience preferred.

Required Skills:

Strong knowledge of structural fitting and fabrication techniques.

Ability to read and understand technical drawings accurately.

Proficient in using measuring tools grinders and fitting instruments.

Good coordination and teamwork skills.

Awareness of safety standards and workshop practices.

Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
