We are currently recruiting for January 2026 onboarding and invite applications from passionate music educators aged 25 to 55 years.
ROLE PURPOSE
To plan teach coach and assess students in Western Music (Piano/Keyboard and related instruments) in alignment with Trinity College London IBPYP and IBMYP curricula while contributing to school performances student development and the overall music culture of GSIS.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Planning Development & Implementation
Develop and deliver a structured music curriculum aligned with Trinity/IBPYP/IBMYP.
Adopt innovative creative and active teaching methodologies.
Prepare lesson plans aligned with unit planners and yearly curriculum.
Identify learner needs and design differentiated learning experiences.
Analyse past performance data and plan teaching goals accordingly.
Implement inquiry-based learning approaches.
Plan and execute assessments for/of learning.
Provide meaningful feedback and support to student inquiries.
2. Teaching Approach
Teach Piano Keyboard Xylophone and related instruments during scheduled classes and DOA practices.
Coach students for Trinity College London Practical Examinations.
Assist and accompany School Choir and Chapel Choir.
Use technology and creative pedagogy for theory and practical sessions.
Prepare students for school concerts recitals inter-house events and competitions.
Train students for School Symphony ensembles and individual musical presentations.
Organize and prepare students for strings ensemble and music recitals.
Accompany students during Trinity examinations and major school events.
Ensure proper maintenance tuning and accountability of instruments.
Escort students safely to and from practice studios.
Be punctual and available for orchestra/band/exam rehearsals scheduled by DOA.
Integrate ATL (Approaches to Learning) skills into teaching.
Uphold ethics integrity and professionalism always.
3. Assessment & Feedback
Implement formative and summative assessments as per curriculum requirements.
Evaluate and monitor student progress regularly.
Provide timely oral and written feedback to students and stakeholders.
Plan summative assessments based on defined performance criteria.
Conduct formative assessments to identify strengths and areas of improvement.
Communicate unit progress to HOD coordinators and parallel teachers.
Implement feedback received from senior leadership.
Reflect on and refine teaching methods and materials.
Ensure evidence-based evaluation of students conceptual understanding and musical skills.
4. Documentation
Accurately maintain student progress records.
Document attendance performance and unit completion.
Maintain evidence of student learning in line with school policy.
5. Behaviour & Safety
Establish a safe and respectful learning environment.
Implement consistent behaviour-management strategies.
Build positive relationships with students while maintaining professionalism.
Promote self-control responsibility and independence.
Safeguard students and follow all school child-protection protocols.
Ensure student safety during transitions between venues
6. Teamwork & Collaboration
Participate actively in department/school meetings.
Collaborate on cross-curricular planning and performances.
Share best practices and contribute to professional development.
Assist in mentoring and induction of new teachers.
Attend training workshops and professional learning programs.
Support curriculum development and pastoral responsibilities.
Provide class cover for absent colleagues as require
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Essential
Bachelors Degree in Music (BMus)
OR
Any degree with Trinity/ABRSM/LCM Grade 8 Practical minimum Grade 5 Theory
Minimum 3 years teaching experience in schools or music academies
Age: 2555 years
