TheActivity Specialistposition at SPIN Community & Fitness is integral to SPIN by taking the steps to actively support a life of possibilities for individuals participating at the Community Participation Supports program.
The Accountabilities of an Activity Specialist.
- Plans implements and adapts various recreational educational and leisure activities and special events.
- Implements and monitors each persons individualized plan to achieve specific outcomes derived from individuals preferences needs and interests.
- Through the use of recreational leisure and educational activities the Activity Specialist teaches and supports individuals with various skills including but not limited to life skills employment skills. appropriate socialization health awareness leisure education etc. to increase and maintain their independence.
- Supports individuals to participate at SPIN Community & Fitness and in the community in all recreational activities and social events.
- Advocates for the individual and/or promotes self-advocacy to meet individuals needs by assisting in the removal of barriers and/or by sharing views with team members to create a solution to advocacy concerns.
- Supports individuals to develop and enhance friendships family connections and community relationships by teaching skills providing opportunities and building on individual strengths and capabilities.
- Communicates positively and effectively with all internal and external team members on issues problems successes of each individual to support achievement of outcomes and assure quality service.
- Acts as a mentor / support to all student interns
- Assists individuals to maximize skills promote community inclusion to actively participate in activities and support independence.
- Maintain a safe healthy clean and welcoming environment for all customers (CPS program participants gym members visitors students co-workers) of SPIN Community & Fitness at all times.
The tools you need:
- High School Diploma required
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to create and adhere to procedures and timelines
- 2 years of experience working with people with disabilities required
- Drivers license vehicle insurance and willingness to travel throughout the greater Philadelphia region
- Basic computer skills- MS Office
