North Side Christian Health Center is hiring for a Medical Assistant. The Medical Assistant supports the efficient safe and compassionate operation of the clinic by providing both administrative and clinical assistance. Our staff provides primary and preventive medical care for patients of all ages mental and behavioral health services dental care and case management.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES-
- Ensures the safe productive and efficient operation of the clinic assigned through timely and attentive administrative and clinical support (as authorized or licensed)
- Ensures all patients enjoy a positive experience treated with the care and compassion expected
- Ensures all patient records and related documents are managed and maintained timely accurately and consistent with all HIPAA and related regulations and requirements
- Ensures all tasks provided and associated with patient care patient administrative processes and related duties comply with all regulatory and accreditation standards as well as clinic policies and procedures
- Ensures all necessary supplies are stocked. Promptly reports when supplies are low and works with Clinical Director to ensure timely reordering is completed
- Demonstrates proficiency in clinical/technical tasks such as venipuncture and immunization administration; follows universal precautions
- Administers COVID vaccinations and manages COVID testing when needed
- Prepares patient charts prior to clinical exams proactively communicating with providers about specific patient needs
- Maintains exam rooms according to protocols: Cleans rooms between patient exams to ensure patients comfort and compliance with infection control standards
- Prepares patients for clinical exam/visit including the collection of typical patient vital metrics (blood pressure temperature height weight etc.)
- Obtains blood specimens by performing venipunctures and finger sticks
- Maintains specimen integrity by using aseptic technique following department procedures; observing isolation procedures
- Performs phlebotomy EKGs and level one labs.
- Assists providers with clinical visits and outpatient office procedures
- Performs clinic procedures according to policy and procedure.
- Ensures completion of Social Determinants of Health Questionnaire with the patient referring them to internal resources as applicable.
- Participates in departmental and organizational quality improvement projects.
- Assists with other duties as assigned by Clinical Director and/or Practice Coordinator
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES-
- Establishes favorable working relationships with all staff members associated with center operations including nurses physicians and related staff
- Upholds and consistently represents the values and mission of the organization. Represents the organization in a highly professional manner at all times.
- Strong oral and written communication skills motivational skills results-oriented self-motivation strong relationship building customer service skills
- Demonstrates clear thinking and ability to prioritize as needed work independently and problem-solve
- Demonstrated success in customer service/patient services or working with the general public preferably in a medical care facility
- Must have basic computer skills
- Fluent in medical terminology
- Demonstrated success in managing difficult customer situations
- Demonstrates proficiency in clinical/technical tasks such as venipuncture immunization administration and handling of lab specimens
- Prolonged sitting and/or standing and moving about throughout the workday; keyboarding
- Local travel between clinic sites
- Rotates evening and Saturday morning shifts with co-workers
- Attends a minimum of one outreach event per calendar year
- Potential exposure to biohazardous materials
- Commitment to NSCHC faith-based mission to provide care to all who request it without judgment
QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED FOR EMPLOYMENT) -
- High school degree or equivalent
- Successful completion of Medical Assistant program required; Certification preferred
- Experience working with an Electronic Medical Record system.
- Three years of direct patient care experience required.
- Experience with pediatrics highly desirable
- CPR/BLS for adult and child
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
- Annual influenza vaccine
- Must obtain or provide proof of (within 14 days of hire): PPD Tdap Hepatitis B Immunity MMR Immunity Varicella Immunity
