Job Description

Role- Senior Mechanical Engineer

Salaryper annum (dependent on experience)

Type- Permanent

Location- Borehamwood Hertfordshire

My client is a specialist manufacturer. They are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer with a varied skillset to join their team in Borehamwood on a permanent basis.

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

2 years or more experience in a similar Mechanical Engineering Design or Applications Engineering position
Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar
Knowledge of a variety of materials sheet metal machined parts etc.
Confident speaking to customers and managing projects
Be proficient using 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks Inventor Creo etc.
Good theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances
The ability to understand system requirements
Be self-motivated with excellent attention to detail
Have excellent communication skills both verbal and written

The Senior Mechanical Engineer role will involve:

Working on project specifications creating CAD drawings and preparing cost estimates working off customer requirements

Using CAD for concept design and producing technical drawings

Writing quotes and other technical details

Creating the required documentation for design as well as project reports / plans
Inputting parts into the MRP system creating BOMs
Checking drawings for sign off

Speaking to customers over the phone and delivering proposals
Helping to define project schedules
Have a good appreciation for using hand tools and basic fabrication methods
Working closely with other members of the engineering team
