The Externals Group have partnered with a highly respected commercial roofing contractor that delivers complex projects across Northern Illinois. They are now seeking an experienced Estimator to support continued growth and ensure the delivery of accurate and profitable bids.

The Estimator will be responsible for reviewing drawings conducting roof surveys developing assemblies and preparing detailed cost estimates in line with specifications manufacturer requirements and project constraints.

A Day in the Life:

Review drawings specifications and project documentation to fully understand scope requirements.
Complete accurate take-offs from plans and site surveys including roof assessments and core cuts.
Develop roofing assemblies that meet technical specifications warranties and building codes.
Prepare comprehensive estimates including labor materials subcontractor scopes and scheduling needs.
Attend pre-bid meetings and maintain strong relationships with clients and suppliers.
Draft proposals manage RFIs and support operations with documentation needed for project handoff.
Participate in internal estimate reviews and provide occasional assistance on overflow bids.

Key Requirements:

5 years of estimating experience within commercial roofing.
Strong understanding of low-slope systems (EPDM TPO PVC BUR Modified).
Proficient with The EDGE or similar estimating software.
Ability to interpret architectural drawings and perform accurate take-offs.
Strong communication organisation and client-facing skills.
Comfortable with occasional travel to site locations.
