The Division of Insurance is recruiting for a Program Coordinator 2located in Juneau!

What you will be doing:

The Program Coordinator 2 will function as a subject matter expert in state flexibility waivers under Section 1332 of the Affordable Care Act. They will collaborate with internal staff staff of other agencies key vendors and stakeholders in order to manage the day to day details around the coordination of Alaskas Section 1332 wavier proposal. This individual will provide public outreach support during the legislative session and policy development that will improve access to high quality affordable health insurance for all Alaskans.

The Division of Insurance is a small division that consists of 48 positions split between Anchorage and Juneau with the Director based in Juneau. The working environment you can expect:

This position is on the 9th floor of the State Office Building in downtown Juneau Alaska. The 9th floor also houses other divisions within the Department of Commerce Community and Economic Development. The office consist of floor to ceiling windows that allows natural light to flow in the building. From the 9th floor we can view of the Governors mansion and Juneaus beautiful mountain ranges.

Core competencies we are looking for:

  • Funds Processing: Knowledge of methods and procedures for processing direct and reimbursable program funds (for example automatic and funded reimbursements interagency agreements transfer appropriations) grants loans and credit programs.
  • Grants Management: Knowledge of requirements practices and procedures for soliciting receiving reviewing and processing proposals and awarding and administering grants and agreements.
  • Insurance: Knowledge of various types of insurance insurance regulations claims processing examination adjudication or adjustment.
  • Legal Government and Jurisprudence:Knowledge of laws legal codes court procedures precedents legal practices and documents Government regulations Executive orders agency rules Government organization and functions and the democratic political process.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in

  • Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving: uses a logical systematic sequential approach to address problems or opportunities or manage a situation by drawing on ones knowledge and experience base and calling on other references and resources as necessary.

  • Compliance: Knowledge of procedures for assessing evaluating and monitoring programs or projects for compliance with Federal laws regulations and guidance.

  • Decision Making: Makes sound well-informed and objective decisions; perceives the impact and implications of decisions; commits to action even in uncertain situations to accomplish organizational goals; causes change.

  • Planning and Evaluating: Organizes work sets priorities and determines resource requirements; determines short- or long-term goals and strategies to achieve them; coordinates with other organizations or parts of the organization to accomplish goals; monitors progress and evaluates outcomes.

  • Organizational Awareness: Knows the organizations mission and functions and how its social political and technological systems work and operates effectively within them; this includes the programs policies procedures rules and regulations of the organization.

Equivalent to those typically gained by:

Training from an accredited college or university in any field and/or progressively responsible professional experience developing planning coordinating and implementing a program project business organization or major components of a program including having administrative authority over the program/project funding staff and/or overall operations.
