JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Instructional Consultant of the Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) works with faculty academic programs and colleges to improve and enhance quality teaching and learning specifically for those educators working in the classroom clinical lab and hospital settings. This position works collaboratively with campus constituencies in support of the institutions goal of ensuring student access and success and the effective and efficient use of resources. Provides advanced-level direction in instructional innovation and current design theory.



Responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Collaborates with all colleges to identify opportunities for faculty teaching in the classroom clinical lab and hospital settings to improve teaching and student learning.
  2. Develops workshops instructional materials and outreach for faculty teaching in those settings.
  3. Provides advanced-level consultation and leadership for curriculum and instruction including face-to-face and electronic (email video telephone and other forms of communication).
  4. Provides recommendations for interface design sequencing of instruction and use of assessments. Assesses the use of techniques and technologies in academic programs to provide recommendations for delivering instruction.
  5. Consults with faculty to identify areas for pedagogical improvement within the course curriculum. Conducts course reviews to identify instructional opportunities and analyze areas for improvement.
  6. Provides individual and group faculty consultations related to course design redesign and development.
  7. Designs implements and manages professional development programs to improve faculty/staff curriculum instruction and technology knowledge and skills for effective integration of instructional design principles.
  8. Analyzes prioritizes and assesses the needs for faculty professional development in the areas of curriculum instruction techniques and technologies for delivering quality courses.
  9. Creates written and electronic resources (website newsletters social media etc.) on quality teaching techniques and technologies.
  10. Performs other work-related duties as assigned.


Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION:Masters Degree. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of experience teaching in higher education including experience developing and delivering courses instructional design providing consultation or support to higher education faculty and staff; ORBachelors and five (5) years ofteaching in higher education including experience developing and delivering courses instructional design providing consultation or support to higher education faculty and staff.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Extensive knowledge of instructional design and adult learning theory.
  • Knowledge of and experience with faculty roles and responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership communication collaboration and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn new skills.
  • Willingness and ability to remain flexible in role and responsibilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate with non-technical and technically perceptive users.
  • Strong desire and skills to serve faculty and staff clients.
  • Ability to collaborate with faculty and staff remotely and face-to-face.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others in an academic community.

WORK SCHEDULE:This position may occasionally be required to work evenings and weekends. May occasionally travel.
