Manager Pathology Operations
Location: Salt Lake City Utah (Hybrid);This position is based in Salt Lake City Utah with hybrid flexibility approved by leadership.
Shift: Day; Monday-Friday
Salary: $85000 - 120000 annually (DOE)

What Youll Do
Lead and Optimize Lab Operations
Oversee day-to-day laboratory activities and ensure smooth operation of research and clinical pathology workflows.
Improve processes related to histology digital pathology scanning and data analysis to maintain high accuracy and fast turnaround times.
Implement and manage quality systems that meet all regulatory and accrediting requirements (CLIA CAP FDA etc.).
Maintain and optimize tissue sample reagent and equipment inventories.
Troubleshoot technical and operational challenges implementing improvements where needed.
Serve as the onsite operational leader for the Salt Lake City facility.
Support Scientific Clinical and Digital Pathology Programs
Coordinate cross-functional activities across clinical affairs regulatory medical engineering and commercial teams.
Support planning execution and tracking of R&D initiatives digital pathology development and clinical validation studies.
Manage tissue procurement systems sample inventory documentation and digital slide data organization.
Assist with project activities supporting AI model development clinical trials and regulatory submissions.
Coordinate internal and external pathologist reviews and documentation.
Maintain research and clinical datasets ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
Team Leadership
Recruit train and supervise histology scanning and laboratory support staff.
Oversee performance evaluations professional development and competency assessments.
Build a culture focused on quality efficiency accuracy and continuous improvement.
Regulatory & Quality Assurance
Help prepare documentation for regulatory submissions.
Maintain SOPs training records and audit documentation.
Participate in internal and external audits and proficiency testing activities.
Support quality metrics process improvements and compliance tracking.
What You Bring
Bachelors degree in medical laboratory science biology or related field (Masters preferred).
At least 5 years of experience in laboratory management ideally within pathology or histology.
Experience managing people and coordinating cross-functional teams.
CLIA-qualifying experience for a Laboratory Manager (42 CFR 493.1407).
Familiarity with digital pathology or whole-slide imaging is highly preferred.
Strong organizational operational and communication skills.
Experience with LIMS quality systems and regulatory standards (CLIA CAP FDA).
Knowledge of histology techniques microscopy QC workflows and sample data management.
