Fórsa is recruiting a Digital Communications Intern to work in the digital section. The intern will support day-to-day activities with a focus on supporting digital marketing organic social media and SEO/ website content creation.
Overview of the Role
The intern will contribute to Fórsas Strategic Plan with a focus on a key goal of Delivering effective communications at all levels. They will support the unions digital work on a day-to-day basis and provide support for the development of its social media channels and website.
In turn the intern will be supported in developing the practical skills and knowledge needed for digital communications as well as how to use digital for industrial relations and broader campaigns. Because of this this internship would particularly suit someone who is either studying a relevant topic or is in an early stage of a career in digital areas.

About Your Team
- You report to the Director of Digital You collaborate with colleagues in other departments across Fórsa
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
- Support the creation of content for digital communications
- Uploading scheduling and monitoring paid social media and paid search ads as well as organic social media
- Ensure SEO principles are implemented across the website
- Support the creation of content for SEO website purposes
- Attend strategic planning sessions with other departments
- Contribute to strategic digital communications planning sessions
- Other reasonable tasks related to the role
Hours
This internship is 3 - 4 days a week (though this can be flexible based on the candidates circumstances) for 6 months commencing in early 2026. The intern will be expected to be available during normal office hours; however due to the nature of the job work outside of normal office hours and over weekends may arise. However this will be avoided where possible. Overtime and formal time off in lieu do not apply.
Location
The role will be based at Fórsas head office in Dublin city centre. Hybrid work may be facilitated subject to operational requirements.
Travel
Regular travel within Ireland to attend events and meetings is an expected part of the role. Travel and Subsistence payments are made within the Civil Service rates and conditions.
About You
Essential Skills and Requirements
- Experience in and/or qualification in digital communications including content creation social media SEO/websites. Those currently undertaking training/courses are also eligible
- Interest in digital communication trends across different platforms including social media websites and others
- Good technical understanding of digital platforms such as social media apps
- Keen understanding of marketing with a focus on human interest stories visual marketing and an eye for compelling written copy
- The ability to empathise and relate to people in a range of different and challenging situations.
- Works well as part of a team and under own initiative
It would be nice but not necessary if you have the following skills
- An interest in the economic and social issues affecting working people in Ireland
- An awareness of trade unions social justice or Irish political structures
