Wayman Education is delighted to be recruiting a committed Year 1 Teacher for a popular primary school in Lewisham. The successful Year 1 Teacher will plan and teach a sequenced Year 1 curriculum secure early reading and phonics progress and shape the learning habits that underpin later success. The Year 1 Teacher will benefit from a supportive leadership team helpful TAs and a clear CPD pathway. The appointed Year 1 Teacher will commence duties in January 2026 and will contribute to termly planning from January 2026.

The Role
As Year 1 Teacher you will design lessons that build robust phonics reading fluency and number sense. The Year 1 Teacher will assess progress carefully adapt teaching to meet learners needs and work closely with parents to celebrate achievement. You will also lead small-group interventions and support transition arrangements into KS1. The successful Year 1 Teacher will be based in Lewisham and will play a central part in the schools early-years-to-KS1 progression.
Person specification for the Year 1 Teacher:
QTS/PGCE and proven experience teaching Year 1 as the Year 1 Teacher.
Strong phonics early writing and formative assessment skills for the Year 1 Teacher.
Excellent communication and the ability to start January 2026 in Lewisham.
