About the Project

We are supporting a local municipal government initiative focused on ensuring full ADA compliance across digital platforms applications and public-facing systems. This project aims to improve accessibility usability and inclusion in line with WCAG 2.1 standards and Section 508 guidelines.

The selected Project Manager (Consultant) will lead the planning coordination and execution of accessibility improvement efforts across web mobile and digital content systems.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage the ADA Compliance and Digital Accessibility Program from initiation through delivery.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams including IT communications and departmental stakeholders.
Develop and maintain project plans schedules risk logs and stakeholder reports to ensure timely delivery.
Conduct accessibility reviews and audits of web and digital assets to ensure compliance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards.
Partner with technical and content teams to recommend remediations and track implementation progress.
Facilitate training and awareness sessions for staff on accessibility tools best practices and compliance guidelines.
Manage vendor and consultant relationships ensuring deliverables meet scope and compliance requirements.
Report project status and key milestones to executive sponsors and governing committees.

Required Qualifications

PMP certification or equivalent project management credential.
5 years of project management experience ideally in IT accessibility or digital transformation environments.
Proven experience managing digital accessibility and ADA compliance projects.
Strong knowledge of WCAG 2.1 Section 508 and related accessibility standards.
Hands-on familiarity with accessibility tools and testing software including:
- JAWS (Job Access With Speech)
- SiteImprove
- VoiceOver
- NVDA WAVE or other industry-standard tools.
Excellent communication stakeholder engagement and documentation skills.
Ability to work in a hybrid setting with onsite presence at least once a week in Sacramento CA.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with municipal or state government agencies.
Familiarity with web development or UX design principles.
Prior experience conducting accessibility audits or remediation projects.
