Job Summary

Union LOA Specialist
Kankakee IL Hybrid 12-Month Contract Full-Time (40 hrs/wk)

This role administers leave of absence and sick leave processes for bargaining unit employees ensuring accurate compliant handling of all medical leave activity. The position operates on a hybrid schedule with standard business hours.

Responsibilities
Review and process sick leave applications in accordance with company policies and applicable state and federal regulations.
Enter and maintain accurate data within payroll and attendance systems.
Manage short-term and long-term medical leave aligned with Union contract requirements.
Communicate leave status to internal teams including Security Training HR and appropriate departments.
Monitor and manage the medical inbox to address inquiries and process medical documentation promptly.
Participate in grievance meetings and attend arbitration hearings related to medically connected absences.
Maintain confidential medical records documentation and forms in compliance with PHI and HIPAA standards.
Support local wellbeing initiatives through participation in the Wellbeing Committee.
Assist the Global Benefits team with special projects as needed.

Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 2 years of experience in a customer-facing or employee-facing role.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel PowerPoint and Word.

Preferred Qualifications
Associate or bachelors degree in a related field.
Experience with Workday.

This position is part of the Human Resource Assistant job class and supports a high-volume compliance-driven environment. The hybrid work model offers one remote day per week with onsite presence in Kankakee for the remainder.
