Job Summary
Introduction
Our client a leader in the healthcare industry based in Sandton is looking for a Head of Data Management and Engineering.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Data Management
- Define and maintain a Data Management strategy.
- Define clear data management policies.
- Develop mechanisms to measure data as an asset.
- Data Engineering
- Implementation of tools and technology to manage the extraction and transformation of large data sets from various applications into a single source of truth for the use of analytics.
- Manage infrastructure requirements for the data analytics data environment.
- In collaboration with the Data Science and Analytics department and Group IT develop mechanisms to operationalize data science models and solutions.
- Financial Management and Planning
- Manage resource expenditure within budget allocated.
- Best Practice Benchmarking
- Build and maintain Stakeholder Relationships.
- People Management
- Effectively manage a team of qualified and engaged people.
- Recruit and ensure the development of key talent into the team to ensure that improving data quality is met.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Degree (Honours Masters or PhD) in Engineering Mathematics Statistics Computer Science or a related field.
- Data Engineering certifications i.e. Python Microsoft AWS Hadoop big data and cloud infrastructure.
- 6 to 8 years experience in Data Engineering.
- 2 years experience in Data Architecture.
- 2 to 3 years experience working within a data governance or data management role.
- 5 years Management experience.
- Experience with distributed data processing on systems i.e. Hadoop Spark Kafka Hive Nifi Hbase.
- Experience working with SQL and extensive relevant experience managing large scale data projects including briefing scoping testing to delivery.
